The Starlight Foundation requires a digital solution to supplement their existing physical activities within their Starlight Express room. Aiming to manage pain better and distract young patients at the Royal Children's Hospital.
The main requirements were to prototype a digital technology distraction application designed to reduce anxiety in children during or after painful procedural interventions. Could use a range of proposed technologies such as 3D simulation, bio-feedback, and AR/VR.
This project aims to reduce children's anxiety and promote mindfulness during their break time, helping them temporarily forget their pain. The approach includes designing the projector room, using key visual activities and colours, and developing sound designs and a virtual companion to enhance the immersive experience.
